Begginers guide to: Contouring and Highlighting | Destinys Sweet Scents

Highlighting and contouring have been the biggest rage for beauty fanatics around the world. Today, you will learn how to highlight and contour to achieve a flawless look all you'll be proud of!

What you need :

Concealer OR foundation OR powder 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone

Concealer OR foundation OR powder 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone

A Blending brush or sponge

Highlighters OR Illuminaters

Optional item: translucent powder, setting spray

Step One: find your face shape

This is actually an important step as different shapes and sizes mean slightly different application areas. There are six face shapes to consider when determining which one is yours: Oval, Long, Round, Square, Heart, and Diamond. Look at the picture provided to help determine what face shape you have.

Step Two: Contour

With your lighter concealer, you want to place it in the areas where you will want to bring forward the lighter colors. These areas include

The bridge of your nose

Chin

Under eye area

The middle of your forehead

Now, with your darker concealer, you want to place it in the areas where you want to add more depth. These areas include:

Sides of your nose

The jawline

The hollows of your cheeks

Your temples

The perimeter of your forehead.

Step Three: Blend

This is the easiest, but most important part of the process. Here you'll want to smooth out and blend the lines you created in the step before. Contouring is meant to look as natural as possible remember so smooth smooth smooth.

If you used a cream foundation you have an extra step here as well

Add the translucent powder (a powder that goes on clear) to "set" your look and make it harder to wipe off.

Step Four: Highlight

Highlighting, or strobing, is a favorite in the make up community. Highlighting  is face makeup that attracts light, creating the illusion of brightness and height.

The areas where you will be putting your highlighter are:

Your cheek bones

Bridge and Tip of your nose

Chin

Cupids bow

Above your temples by your eyebrows.

You can also take it a step further and highlight the inner corners of your eyes and your brow bone.

*The Cupid's bow is a facial feature where the double curve of a human upper lip is said to resemble the bow of Cupid

Step Five: Finish

And that ladies and gentlemen is the basics on how to contour and highlight your beautiful face!! Now just finish your look with your regular makeup look and feel like a boss babe.
